Children can have a school meal or bring a packed lunch of their own
Our school meals are provided by Aspens Company Limited.
School meals are free for all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 (known as a Universal Infant Free School Meal (UFISM)). Your child can still bring a packed lunch from home, they just need to tell the class teacher at morning registration.
Meals cost £2.90 for all Key Stage 2 children.
Aspens Services, a market leading contract catering company and we specialise in school food. We make sure that our Food Festival menus are packed with comfort dishes and at the same time, we help pupils take their first steps with new tastes to explore. Our kitchens provide delicious home cooked food each day and cater for individual dietary requirements.
There’s a big difference in the appetites and needs of children as they progress through primary school, so we take this into consideration with our portion sizes. This not only cuts down on waste but also makes sure that there’s enough food and choice for everyone.
We make delicious food every day that also happens to be healthy. We make the most of fruit and vegetables that are in season because that’s when it tastes best, and is the most planet friendly too.

Irrespective of the age of your child you may be entitled to a Free School Meal (FSM) if you receive welfare benefits. You must apply for FSM, to do so please click here. In addition to the money you will save on meals, the school receives additional funding which we use to support your child in their learning.
You are eligible if you are in receipt of the following:
All pupils in Reception, year 1 and year 2 are entitled to a free school meal under the government’s Universal Infant Free School Meal scheme.
Parents should encourage their children to eat a healthy packed lunch. Fizzy drinks, sweets, crisps, chewing gum and chocolate are not permitted.
As there are currently children in school with nut allergies, it would be appreciated if chocolate spread, peanut butter or packets of nuts were not included in your child’s packed lunch.
Lunch boxes should be clearly labelled with the child’s name and class
As a healthy mid-morning snack, we encourage children to bring fruit (fresh or dried) or raw vegetables (no sweets, chewing gum or crisps please). Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 pupils are provided – free of charge – with a portion of fruit or vegetable each day.
For younger children, where parents wish to provide the mid-morning snack themselves, it is recommended that it is prepared for easy eating and stored in a small plastic container. Children are encouraged to drink water throughout the day.
Drinking water is available on tap in every classroom. It is recommended that every child brings in an individual, labelled water bottle.
